Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development - Knesset member Orit Noked



Knesset member Orit Noked - a member of Kibbutz Shefayim, born in Israel in 1952, married with 3 children.

Noked studied law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

She served as the legal advisor of the Kibbutz Movement and was a member of the Jewish National Fund's directorate and the board of the Israel Land Administration.
 
She was sworn in to the Knesset in 2002 and served as member of the Finance Committee, the Committee on the Status of Women and the Committee on the Rights of the Child.
In 2005, she was appointed assistant to Shimon Peres, who was Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister for Development of the Negev and the Galilee at the time. As part of her duties, she was responsible for liaison between the Deputy PM’s office and different government ministries. She headed the Team for Settlement-Related Issues in Outlying Areas.
In the 17th Knesset, Noked served as member of the Finance Committee, the Labor, Welfare and Health Committee, the Committee on the Status of Women and the Committee for the Appointment of Judges.            


Up until her appointment as Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Noked served as Deputy Minister of Industry, Trade, and Labor. As part of her duties, she was responsible for consumer protection issues, Standardization Departments, workplace safety issues, cooperative associations and was also responsible for supervising the Equal Employment Opportunity Ombudsman's Office. During her tenure in the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Labor, Noked strove to establish consumer-related issues that would be based on values of transparency, fairness and clarity. In addition, Noked helped advance the status of women in workplaces, promote professional training sessions for women and further develop day care centers.
