The Veterinary Services is an independent unit within the framework of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The duties of the Veterinary Services include, among other thins, prevention and eradication of animal diseases; prevention and eradication of zoonotic diseases, including rabies; inspection over import-export of animals and animal products; licensing and testing of medications and vaccines; licensing of Veterinarians and veterinary specialists; coordination and inspection of the different veterinary aspects in local authorities; abattoirs; processing of animal food; prevention of hazardous residues in animal food; prevention of cruelty to animals.
The Veterinary Services’ units are located all over Israel. The Veterinary Services Headquarters, the Veterinary Institute, and the service and administration unites are situated in the Ministry of Agriculture Campus at Bet Dagan. The rest of the Veterinary Services’ units are scattered throughout Israel.
