Accreditation of Inspection and Certification bodies and recognition of private laboratories

  • Accreditation of Inspection and Certification bodies for the certification of organic produce for domestic consumption and for export to the EU and USA.
  • Promotion and development of mutual recognition of the organic standard of the State of Israel and those of other countries in order to expand the export markets for organic products produced in the State of Israel.
  • Recognition of chemical laboratories for the testing of agricultural products in order to fulfill the conditions prescribed by the Law for the Regulation of Organic Produce, 5765-2005, and the Law for Inspection of Plant Production and Marketing, 5771-2011 (accompanied by professional support by the Chemistry Division of the Plant Protection and Inspection Services).

Development of standards, regulations and guidelines

  • Development of the Basic Standard in accordance with the Law for Inspection of Plant Production and Marketing, 5771-2011.
  • Development of the Improved Standard (environment, social, hygiene, regional marking, etc.) in accordance with the Law for Inspection of Plant Production and Marketing, 5771-2011.
  • Expanding legislation concerning the Law for the Regulation of Organic Produce, 5765-2005.
  • Development of computerized databases to obtain data on quality and safety of agricultural products.

Inspection and enforcement

  • Inspection and enforcement in accordance with the Law for the Regulation of Organic Produce, 5765-2005.
  • Inspection and enforcement in accordance with the Law for Inspection of Plant Production and Marketing, 5771-2011.
  • Inspection and enforcement of the activities of private Inspection and Certification bodies.
