​​The Ministries of Agriculture and Finance Reduce Retail Prices for Eggs

The joint price committee of the Ministries of Agriculture and Finance today made a recommendation to the Ministers of Agriculture and Finance to lower the prices of eggs under supervision by an average of 1.2%, meaning that the price of an egg after the reduction will be 95.25 agorot on average per egg. The reduction will take effect once the Ministers sign the directive.


The recommendation was received according to the fixed procedure regarding price updates and is the outcome of a cost analysis done for the wholesalers in the egg supply chain, and continued with a hearing held for the stakeholders, alongside changes which have occurred in the input prices since the last update. The last update in the egg prices was about three years ago. Then, too, the retail prices were reduced.


A dozen eggs size L, which is the most common size, and which accounts for about 50% of all eggs, will cost 11.30 NIS after the reduction, compared with 11.45 NIS today.
