Following monitoring carried out by inspectors of the veterinary service at the Ministry of Agriculture at the Ramot Meir quail farm, salmonella bacteria were found of a strain which may be harmful to public health.

Upon receiving the preliminary results indicating infection with the salmonella bacteria, the Ministry of Agriculture immediately quarantined the farm and prohibited sale of the quail eggs produced there. Since this farm is not approved for selling quail eggs, and since in further tests it was confirmed that the bacterium was indeed a salmonella bacterium of the typhimurium subspecies, endangering public health, and since it was found that eggs from this farm are on sale in stores, the Ministry of Agriculture calls on the public not to consume the quail eggs bearing the label "Golden Quail Yossef Azulai, Produced in Ramot Meir" - until further notice.
