19th edition (2016) of the O.I.E Aquatic Animal Health Code now available on-line
We are pleased to inform you that the online version of the 19th edition (2016) of the Aquatic Animal Health Code is now available and can be accessed from the O.I.E public web site
The 2016 edition of the Aquatic Code incorporates modifications agreed at the 84th General Session held from 22‒27 May 2016.
During its 84th General Session, the President of the Aquatic Animal Health Standards Commission (Aquatic Animals Commission) presented the Commission’s annual report (84SG/12/CS4B) to the OIE World Assembly, focusing on the work of the Aquatic Animals Commission since the previous General Session. During his report, the President of the Aquatic Animals Commission proposed the adoption of a total of seven revised chapters (including the glossary).
The OIE World Assembly adopted Resolution No. 33 agreeing to amend seven chapters in the Aquatic Code as presented in the February 2016 meeting report of the Aquatic Animals Commission.
Revisions have been made to the table of contents and glossary, Chapter 1.1. Notification of diseases and provision of epidemiological information and Chapter 1.1. General obligations related to certification. Chapter 4.3. Disinfection of aquaculture establishments and equipment has been extensively revised and the title amended accordingly. Chapter 9.2. Infection with yellow head virus genotype 1 has been amended to clarify the scope of this chapter and the title revised accordingly. In addition, some minor consequential amendments have been made in Articles 1.4.3., 1.5.2., 2.1.4., 4.2.3. and 4.6.3. to ensure that the use of ‘vector’ is consistent with the new definition of ‘vector’.

We also take this opportunity to remind you that Annexes 10 to 28 of the February 2016 meeting report of the Aquatic Animals Commission, present new or revised draft chapters for the OIE Aquatic Code and Aquatic Manual and that Member Countries’ comments on these must reach OIE Headquarters by 5 August 2016 to be considered at the September 2016 meeting of the Aquatic Animals Commission.
